Wonder Commonlands: Women Organization and Networking of Development of Rural Areas Commonland

In early September 2024, the Wonder Commonlands Project was launched, funded by the EU Erasmus+ program. The project looks for providing learning and networking opportunities to the partner organisations and to all EU women and young girls living in commonlands for their inclusion in their governance, economy and natural resources management.

It is developed through three specific objective:

  • To promote the social inclusion of women and young girls (as a key community vulnerable groups in rural areas) and their participation in the community life and decision-making of the commonlands.
  • To develop the networking and digitalisation of rural women across ages and among territories for the exchange of experiences, knowledge and mutual support.
  • To enhance women and young girls’ entrepreneurship capacities by providing them useful learning experiences, skills and tools about the revitalization of the territory, community governance and the sustainable economic development of common lands.

The Project’s activities include:

  • Two seminars on gender equality in the management of common lands
  • Seminar on processes and tools for participation and decision-making.
  • Webinar on communal and legal instruments in governance for the management of common use lands;
  • Webinar in Уебинар eco-feminist perspectives on protecting ecosystems and fighting climate change.
  • Seminar on on the role of women in building sustainable economic structures for biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation and adaptation to climate change in common lands.
  • Communication and promotion.

The difference we expect to make:

  • Increased knowledge of regulatory requirements and their practical application for the management of commonland in Europe.  
  • Identifying real opportunities for women to lead in improving entrepreneurship and economic development on common lands.
  • Increased knowledge about gender equality and their perspective in the management of commonlands.
  • Assessing the knowledge of rural women regarding natural resource management.
  • Strengthening the sense of belonging of women in rural areas and combating social isolation
